Dian Pelangi at IFW 2017: Earth Colors for Modest Look

Dian Pelangi goes natural for Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2017. Nature is the main inspiration for her S/S 2017 collection. If her usual designs are dominated by bright colors, this time she uses calmer earthy colors such as brown, green, maroon, and broken white. With the theme “Originality is a by Product of Sincerity,” this collection was inspired by the five elements of life: earth, water, fire, air, and metal.

Front-knot type of outfit can be seen as the style Dian Pelangi tries to bring to trend through this collection. And tie dye is the dominating motif of the 12 looks. The motif is applied on blouses, scarves, and dresses that are designed in asymmetrical cuttings.  The earthy colors that are presented using this tie dye technic give the collection a softer look without fully erasing Dian Pelangi’s typical playful design. 

To put some elegant touch, Dian Pelangi matched the blouse and dress with sequined headpiece as part of the hijab, creating a fancier look for the modest design. Most of the outfits are suitable for informal and semi-formal occasions. Though, some of them are also designed for a more formal event.

In the runway, Wardah make up helped to accent the natural and modest look. For IFW 2017, Wardah showed their four latest make up looks: Genuine, Faithful, Brave, and Serene. And for Dian Pelangi’s collection, they applied Genuine make up look, which highlights the natural shape of eyes and lips color.
