RIMOWA Bossa Nova: Returning the Luxury to the Beauty of Local Nature

RIMOWA introduces Bossa Nova as their latest collection of luxury luggage. Bossa Nova itself was inspired by the Amazon rainforest. This can be seen at the tropical colors with jet green as their main color. RIMOWA gives some leather accents at the corners of Bossa Nova with contrasting stitching which works both for protection case and an eye-catching detail. Bossa Nova comes with two color choices for its leather accents: jet green and beige to match the main color.

The inside of the Bossa Nova is fully lined with padded material, utilizing the Flex-Divider system to ensure the perfect organization of items in the case, with a noble fabric that is light and as robust as parachute silk. An add-a- bag holder is built into the shell of the Bossa Nova, allowing an additional item of luggage to be secured directly to the case. The Multiwheel® system makes the suitcase extremely convenient and has excellent maneuverability.

RIMOWA also shows its support for environmental sustainability by using electronic tag technology which replaces the conventional paper tag with a digital data module that is integrated into the suitcase.

While Bossa Nova was inspired by tropical rainforest of Amazon, RIMOWA sees that the rainforest hasn’t got the protection and treatment it deserves. So, RIMOWA initiates to donate parts of its earnings from Bossa Nova to organizations that are concerned with the sustainability of Amazon.

RIMOWA Indonesia translates this initiation to the local environment. Collaborating with Art Republik Magazine, RIMOWA Indonesia invited several Indonesian artists to paint on five Bossa Nova luggage. The artists customized the luggage with their unique interpretations of Indonesian tropical unique natures. These include the paintings of Indonesian Moon Orchid, Rafflesia Arnoldi, Jasmine, and Rhinoceros. Fernando Christianus as the Editor of Art Republik Magazine stated that even though most of the five pieces of luggage are customized with paintings of flowers, this doesn’t make them any less masculine for men to use it. The sales proceeds of these five pieces of luggage will be donated to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Indonesia, which is currently concerned about the conservation of elephants in Indonesia.

Bossa Nova collection is available in beauty case, cabin size, and baggage size. The price ranges around IDR 19,500,000, and around IDR 24,500,000 for the “National Treasure” special limited edition.
